How the design compares
DuraGlides vs. adhesive felt pads
Both put felt between a chair and a floor. The big difference is how the felt is attached and how the product fits the chair.
| Feature | DuraGlides | Typical peel-and-stick felt pad |
|---|---|---|
| How it stays on | Snap-on housing around compatible chair base | Adhesive applied to chair-foot bottom |
| Felt attachment | Industrial-strength felt molded into glide | Felt pad depends on an adhesive layer |
| Installation | Snap onto suitable chair base | Prepare surface, peel backing and adhere |
| Appearance | Low-profile gray housing | Often nearly invisible at first, depending on pad |
| Potential concern | Correct base size and shape are essential | Adhesive may loosen or peel during repeated movement |
Important: No chair glide lasts forever under every condition. Correct fit, chair condition and floor type all influence performance. DuraGlides are designed to avoid relying on the adhesive attachment used by simple felt stickers.
The structural difference
The felt isn't an afterthought.
With DuraGlides, the felt and plastic housing form a purpose-built glide assembly. This removes the need to stick a separate felt pad directly to the chair leg.
